This is Psalm 113:3: "From the rising of the sun to its setting the name of the Lord is to be praised." Surely, from the rising to the setting of the sun implies that we will see good and not so good times in our lives. Therefore, in both we are to praise the Lord, which means we express how much we value Him no matter the circumstances. That's not hard when things are going well and life is running smoothly. But the reality is that life does get hard and difficult, and the road rather bumpy at times. His name is still to be praised. Praising Him in the tough times requires humility on our part, trusting Him, His greatness and sovereignty. Then, we are commanded that "in everything give thanks for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus." (1 Thess. 5:18) The principles of thanksgiving are the same as praise. Praise and thanksgiving are companions and make up the most important part of our prayers. If we truly praised and thanked Him all the day, that would still be insufficient to match His greatness. But, it would surely be worth the effort. He is worthy!
Joyfully His, Bro. Dennis
