Newcomers Welcome!
Making the pieces fit....
Why should I become a member
of McKenzie First Baptist Church?
Isn’t it okay if I just show up on a regular basis?
Yes, but consider the advantages of becoming a part of the McKenzie First Baptist Church family:
- Membership says, "I belong here," and the Bible encourages us to become a part of the local church.
- Membership says, "We share the same ministry goals" and God says that believers are to unite for the spread of the Gospel.
- Membership says, "I accept responsibility to care, share and grow with a group of fellow believers," and that’s God’s plan as well.
- Membership says, "I am accountable to mature brothers and sisters in Christ for my walk with God," and God warns against spiritual autonomy.
- Membership says, "I accept responsibility for how things are done here," and God says that is how it should be.
Are there different ways to join?
Yes, there several different ways people join First Baptist Church McKenzie:
- · By professing faith in Jesus Christ and following Him in water baptism.
- · By transferring your "membership letter" from another Southern Baptist Church.
- · By your statement of faith in Christ, and that you have experienced scriptural baptism by immersion after salvation in another church.
- · By statement from another denomination that does not practice baptism by immersion. This is a statement of your faith in Christ and willingness to be baptized by immersion.
When do I join?
You can become a member of First Baptist Church McKenzie at any time:
-
At the close of a worship service, as the invitation hymn is being sung and the ministers stand and face the congregation, walk to one of them and tell them you want to join the church.
-
You can talk to a staff member before or after the service–the staff will be at the exits greeting people, simply let them know of your intentions.
-
You can indicate your desire for membership by so noting on the guests cards that will be passed out during the ‘welcome’ part of the service.
-
You can call the church office at (352-5391) or stop by between 8:30 and 4:30 and talk directly with a minister about membership
Once I join, what do I do?
