New to FBC McKenzie?

We're glad to see that you're interested in finding out more about FBC Church!  We've set up a few pages to help you get to know us and to answer common questions about who we are and how we do church together.

But first, a quick word about a few things you can expect at our Sunday morning service:
Relevant Preaching: Messages that apply the Bible to our lives in real and meaningful ways.
Welcoming People: We come from all backgrounds and look forward to meeting you.  Feel free to dress either casually or formally, you'll see both here.
Something for our Kids: We want our kids to enjoy church and experience God's love for them in ways they can understand.

Visit this page for directions to our church building.

For our mission, vision, values, beliefs, and leadership, we invite you to check out our Who are we? page.

Lastly, if you're interested in getting to know us better, visit our How can I get involved? page for suggestions on the next steps you can take to connect in fellowship or serving at FBC McKenzie..

If you have any further questions, feel free to use the Contact Us page to get in touch with our office staff.  We're happy to help!

Newcomers Welcome!

        Making the pieces fit....

Why should I become a member
of McKenzie
First Baptist Church?

Isn’t it okay if I just show up on a regular basis?

Yes, but consider the advantages of becoming a part of the McKenzie First Baptist Church
 family:

  • Membership says, "I belong here," and the Bible encourages us to become a part of the local church.
  • Membership says, "We share the same ministry goals" and God says that believers are to unite for the spread of the Gospel.
  • Membership says, "I accept responsibility to care, share and grow with a group of fellow believers," and that’s God’s plan as well.
  • Membership says, "I am accountable to mature brothers and sisters in Christ for my walk with God," and God warns against spiritual autonomy.
  • Membership says, "I accept responsibility for how things are done here," and God says that is how it should be.

Are there different ways to join?

Yes, there several different ways people join First Baptist Church McKenzie:

  • ·        By professing faith in Jesus Christ and following Him in water baptism.
  • ·        By transferring your "membership letter" from another Southern Baptist Church.
  • ·        By your statement of faith in Christ, and that you have experienced scriptural baptism by immersion after salvation in another church.
  • ·        By statement from another denomination that does not practice baptism by immersion.  This is a statement of your faith in Christ and willingness to be baptized by immersion.

When do I join?

You can become a member of First Baptist Church McKenzie at any time:

  • At the close of a worship service, as the invitation hymn is being sung and the ministers stand and face the congregation, walk to one of them and tell them you want to join the church.
  • You can talk to a staff member before or after the service–the staff will be at the exits greeting people, simply let them know of your intentions.
  • You can indicate your desire for membership by so noting on the guests cards that will be passed out during the ‘welcome’ part of the service.
  • You can call the church office at (352-5391) or stop by between 8:30 and 4:30 and talk directly with a minister about membership

Once I join, what do I do?

One of the key priorities of First Baptist Church McKenzie is to help you grow spiritually.

  • We will help you plug into a Sunday morning Bible class to help you grow spiritually and to surround you with individuals who will help encourage you.
  • We will share with you the discipleship classes available on Wednesday nights encourage you to plug in and grow.
  • We offer a monthly/quarterly new members class that will expose you to the opportunities for growth and service at First Baptist.
  • We offer a monthly/quarterly New Christians class "What Every Christian Ought to Know".
  • You will be assigned to a deacon ministry list and you will have a deacon who will be praying for you and who will visit with you on occasion.
  • The Education Minister will meet with after you are established to help you identify spiritual gifts and talents and to share with you where you could implement those gifts through ministry, prayer, and missions service opportunities

    I still have some questions.

This is not unusual.  You are dealing with the most important decision of your life………what you will do with Jesus and His Church!  One of our ministers will be glad to talk with you at the invitation time at the close of each service or call the church office,  352-5391 for an appointment.  We are eager to assist you in this exciting decision.
